Michael Symon, Lilly Handmade Chocolate, Velvet Tango Room, Cleveland International Wine Show

Unlike Iron Chef America, where Michael Symon makes sporadic, albeit spirited, appearances. Dinner: Impossible, Symon's new Food Network gig, will bring the Cleveland chef into homes across the globe on a regular basis. "This is a one-hour, prime-time show," Symon explained. "It's great exposure for our city." Symon is replacing longtime host Robert Irvine. In addition to the longer format (the show had been a half hour), Symon's version will feature assistance from Cleveland chefs Jon Sawyer, Tim Bando, Dave Lowe and Greg MacLaren. "I was a little freaked out at first," says Marigold Catering's MacLaren. "But I figured I've been doing this for 20 years, and if I don't know what to do in a kitchen by now, I don't belong in one." The first of 10 episodes was taped in Cleveland last week. The shows begin airing this summer or fall.

Joshua and Amanda Montague are putting the finishing touches on their new Tremont chocolate boutique, Lilly Handmade Chocolate (761 Starkweather Ave., 216.771.3333). Expected to open in early May, the urban confectionary emporium will transform the world's best available chocolate into hand-molded and dipped truffles, bars and candies. Lilly's confections will have no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. The former Brown's Market, located a few doors down from Lucky's Café, has been reworked into a "hip, sexy, Hollywood-style boutique," says Amanda. Done up in hot pink and black, the shop, adds Joshua, will be on par with those found in Manhattan or Paris. Lilly will also stock chocolate-friendly wine and beer, such as fruit beers, bubbly wines and big reds.

To go with its freshly opened patio, Velvet Tango Room (2095 Columbus Rd., 216.241.8869) has recently unveiled a new catalogue of classic cocktails. Additions include Aviation, Apricot Sour, Highball, Old Fashioned and Moscow Mule, served in the traditional copper mug. As always, stop in after work on Tuesdays for complimentary sushi.

Due to the success of the Fabulous Food Show's Wine Tasting Pavilion, the I-X Center and the Cleveland Wine School are presenting the inaugural Cleveland International Wine Show. Held May 2 and 3, the event will feature 500 wines from around the globe, wine seminars, and wine-pairing demonstrations by chefs. Cost is $60 per person. Charge online at localwineevents.com or by phone at 216.265.CORK.

Apparently, C & Y Chinese Restaurant (2222 St. Clair Ave.) has closed. The parking lot is gated and locked, and the phone number has been disconnected.
